Future freakout, criminal minds wednesday, and social media in English class?

Quote of the day, "This is your future, your life basically."

This was said by a member of psi chi today when discussing grad school options for psych majors. It was pretty rough hearing this because this means that whatever we choose to do after our undergrad careers can break us. If we choose the wrong thing, then we essentially are ruining our lives. That is not a good feeling at all! Its nerve wracking thinking that I have to make the right decision. I honestly feel that my 21 year old mind in the future, will not be able to make a life decision. There are not enough shower times to help me decide to go to grad school right after or take a break in between. Its crazy knowing that can change my life just that one choice. I started to have a freakout that i have to connect with other professors in the psych department, I have to get connected with the right people, start volunteering in hospitals, get internships with psych people OMG!!! I can barely decide what I want to eat for dinner. I know i have the passion to do psych but how can i show that to people who are in the admissions department for grad school?!

Of course, y'all know its Criminal Minds Wednesday. I have been counting down this moment since Criminal Minds ended last week. Too bad this week it premiers at 10pm. Thats my bedtime! Just kidding, but it is the time i start to doze off because Im tired. The promo is so good too..."It only took 4 mins to kidnap this little girl..now the team has 24 hours to save her!!!" AHHH!!! I cant handle the excitement rushing through my veins !

So I'm taking my english class online this semester just like I'm taking my social media class online. It's so funny that my assignment this week was to analyze an article written by Zadie Smith about the "Facebook generation." I had so much to say about this because of my social media class. This article basically stated everything that Turkle pointed out in her video. I truly believe that social media changes the state of mind psychologically. For example, my friend who was depressed for a while did not portray that online. Instead, she posted happy posts and pictures of her smiling. Later on, she changed her state of mind and got out of that depression. Simply because online her persona was a happier person than she really was, which got her to change her state of mind. Maybe its just me and wanting to make that connection to psychology...i dont know. But thats just me.

All right guys that is all I have to say. Stay tuned and remember  be nice to people, smile and Good night! (even though its only 6pm...)

Psych haters, social media, and Criminal Minds.

Since starting my online social media class, I have been more observant as to how much time I spend on social media websites. Social media sort of took over my life before but I'm trying not to let it get to me as much. Let me tell you, I had to this week to look up blogs I would follow ! But without that assignment, i don't check my facebook as often as i used to. However, i spend a lot of my time checking out the new blogs I discovered. The psych blog is my favorite. I love love love the post that explains why "How do you feel about that", the most cliche thing a psychologist can say, is actually the most important line we can say. Everyone that always made fun of me with that line should definitely go check it out! Here is the link for you all: My Psych Haters. It goes in depth as to why we ask that question, your answers reveal more to us than you ever will ! Which brings me to another point, how people say that psychology is self taught and its a waste of time. It is not, because there is certain training one must go through in order to be a good psychologist. We observe behavior yes, anyone can do that but we are trained to interpret that behavior and diagnose someone with a disorder, if they have one. We cant simply say if someone is sad that they're automatically depressed. That is not the case. I can go on but I will let the post do the talking.

Speaking of psychology, CRIMINAL MINDS NEW TOMORROW!!! :D I'm so stoked that i cant keep my excitement in!! Ive been yelling to the world about tomorrow's new episode that I just had to post the promo here! If you have not watched criminal minds you should tune in tomorrow on CBS @ 9pm. I will ! Its pretty funny how before I didnt watch criminal minds and now i wait for each new episode and im glued to the tv screen and yell at anyone who bothers me.AHHH!!! Alright peeps, here is the promo hope you all enjoy! Remember, be nice to people, smile and good night!

Introduction

Hey everybody ! My name is Jennifer Trujillo-Armijo and I am currently a full-time sophomore at Pace University. Yes, as you can tell by the URL, I am a psychology major. This is currently my fifth blog on blogger but I can tell you I am not an expert on blogger. There is just so many things wrong with my previous blogs, you can barely read the text because I do not know how to work with colors. The background for my global blog is horrible. I hope since there is a whole section on how to work with blogger in the Web 2.0 applications, I will learn how to work with Blogger much better than my 15 year old self.
